As part of the events organised by Nilüfer Municipality to mark the 105th anniversary of 19 May 1919, the day the independence torch of the Turkish Republic was lit, a cycling tour took place with a large turnout. The 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth, and Sports Day Cycling Tour, organised in collaboration with Mysia Ways and Nilüfer City Council, attracted 150 cycling enthusiasts. Starting at Nilüfer Republic Square, participants pedalled along Fatih Sultan Mehmet Boulevard, Ata Boulevard, and the İzmir Road route, taking a break at the Nilüfer Municipality Ertan Ayçetin Bicycle House in Başköy.

One of Turkey's leading experts on cycling, author Aydan Çelik, held a discussion with participants. In his discussion, Mr. Çelik explored the themes of environmental issues, the pain caused by wars, historical anecdotes, and technological advancements in Nâzım Hikmet's Bicycle, a book that traces the poet's journey starting at the age of three on a tricycle.

Mr. Çelik also took the opportunity to share memories of Ertan Ayçetin, the late president of the Bursa Cycling and Nature Lovers Association, who passed away three years ago. He signed copies of his book for the cycling enthusiasts in attendance.

Following the talk, Nilüfer Deputy Mayor Okan Şahin expressed gratitude to Mr. Çelik for his engaging discussion.
